Kirin 980 by Huawei, The first 7nm chipset for mobile officially launched

Huawei now becoming the first company with the 7nm chipset in a smartphone. Day by day technology is developing and provides us with a better facility from earlier. Kirin 980 expected better performance improvement over its predecessor, the Kirin 970.

This is the world’s first Cortex A76 based mobile CPU by the ARM. Huawei is working in it from the last 18 months. Initially, it starts from discussion to the validation and now it is ready for the mass production in this year.

Using a 7 nm fabrication process increases its performance over its predecessors. It is made with a combination of 6.9 billion transistors on a single chip. Which will be up to 20% faster and 40% less power consumption. Comparing with its Kirin 970, its performance will increase up to 75% and 58% greater power efficiency.

It uses a new triple cluster design with its eight-core divided into three group. It has two big A76 cores of clock speed 2.6 GHz, two middle A76 cores of clock speed 1.92 GHz and four little cores of clock speed 1.8 GHz. This allows 980 to become more efficient with better performance. Small cores usually for the basic tasks like music middle cores for the middle task like browser and social media apps and intensive tasks like gaming and image processing for the high cores as needed.

It is not just an AI chip. It also utilises the companies new fourth generation dual ISP (Image signal processor) which promises to deliver 45% faster camera processing, 33% greater recording efficiency and 25% power efficiency. It has also a better GPS facility than its other processor so your Uber can able to take the perfect location where you are.
